What is CPD?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) refers to the process by which professionals maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills throughout their careers. It encompasses various learning activities, including training courses, workshops, seminars, and e-learning programs, aimed at improving professional competence and performance.

CPD accreditation is a formal recognition that a training activity or provider meets established standards for quality and relevance in professional development. At CPDQS, we assess and accredit courses to ensure they contribute effectively to an individual’s CPD requirements, providing assurance of their value and credibility.

To become an accredited provider with CPDQS:

Submit an Application: Complete our application form with details about your organisation and training offerings.

Initial Review: Our team will assess your application and provide feedback or request additional information if necessary.

Membership Activation: Upon approval and receipt of payment, you’ll receive access to our member resources and branding materials.

Course Submission: Submit your training courses for individual accreditation through our streamlined process.

CPD QS accredits a wide range of training activities, including:

In person workshops and seminars

Online courses and webinars

E-learning modules

Each submission is evaluated to ensure it meets our quality standards and contributes meaningfully to professional development.

Our goal is to provide a prompt and efficient accreditation process. Typically, course evaluations are completed within 7–14 working days after submission. We strive to keep you informed throughout the process and are available to address any questions you may have.

CPD points, also known as CPD hours or credits, represent the time spent on a recognised Continuing Professional Development activity. Typically, one CPD point equals one hour of active learning. These points help individuals and organisations track professional development and demonstrate ongoing learning in their field.

Accreditation with CPD QS offers several advantages:

Enhanced Credibility: Demonstrates your commitment to high-quality professional development.

Marketing Support: Access to CPD QS branding materials to promote your accredited status.

Increased Visibility: Listing in our directory of accredited providers.

Learner Confidence: Provides assurance to participants of the value and relevance of your training.

While CPD QS is based in the UK, our accreditation is recognised by professionals and organisations globally. We adhere to international standards for CPD, ensuring that our accredited courses meet the needs of a diverse, worldwide audience.

Accreditation for individual courses is valid for 12 months from the date of approval. Providers are encouraged to submit courses for re-accreditation before the expiration to maintain continuous accredited status.

Yes. As an accredited provider, you have the option to:

No, it is not. A CPD accredited course is designed to support a professional’s growth, helping them stay current, deepen their knowledge, and build on existing skills. While it plays a vital role in ongoing development, it is not a regulated qualification and cannot replace one.

Regulated qualifications are typically required to enter certain professions or apply for licences and must be completed through an officially approved awarding organisation. In contrast, CPD supports continued learning after you’ve entered a profession and helps you maintain high standards as your industry evolves.

CPD QS accredits training activities that meet established benchmarks for structure and learning value, but this does not make the activity a formal or legally recognised qualification.
